FROM sizeable samoyeds to tiny three-legged terriers, hundreds of hounds took their owners out on the town for yesterday’s Dogs on the Domain day.
Run by the Hobart City Council in conjunction with the Hobart Dog Walking Association, the Dogs’ Home of Tasmania and the Hobart Canine Obedience Club, Dogs on the Domain is a popular annual event which gives dogs the chance to make new furry friends while their owners get the latest information, products and services from a range of stallholders.
Yesterday’s event kicked off with a massive group walk (either 1.3km or 2.8km) around the Domain, with each registered pooch receiving a doggy bag full of goodies and the chance to win a professional photography session.
The ever-popular pet parade and fancy dress competition also attracted many entries.
The Hobart Canine Obedience Club held agility, obedience and flyball demonstrations throughout the day, while local dog listener Merry Conway was on hand to give owners handy hints for getting their unruly pets to behave.
