A little about the area Kingborough council is the fastest growing council in Tasmania

Kingston is a town on the outskirts of HobartTasmaniaAustralia. Nestled 12 km south of the city between and around several hills, Kingston is the seat of the Kingborough Council, and today serves as the gateway between Hobart and theD’Entrecasteaux Channel region, which meets the Derwent River nearby. It is one of the fastest growing regions in Tasmania.[1] This statistical area had an estimated population of 11,200 in June 2012.[2]

Although the Blackmans Bay region is statistically classed as a separate urban area to Hobart,Kingston is part of the Greater Hobart area. This is in part possibly due to the continuous urbanisation along the river front, its significant size, and the high number of residents working in the CBD of Hobart.

Kingston is a lovely place to live and you are so lucky to be able to have Kingston beach at your door step and Blackmans bay Beach just down the road spoilt for choice;

Ask the pet sitters you are interviewing about their Experience

Having experience is one thing. Having relevant experience is Another. All pets are different and at the very least your pet sitter should be used to looking after dogs or cats of a similar size, breed and mentality. Having experience with monkeys, although  may be helpful But in the reality of it all, isn’t going to be very useful when caring for a  after a Shitzu or a German Shepard Or a Persian cat.

Pet sitters should have CPR and pets first aid experience to pet sit,pet feed or pet mining as pet minding can entail lots of different Tasks depending on the client of course.It is handy to be handy for your pet sitter or pet feeder pet minder to be able to administer medication such as insulin injections.

Your pet sitting business or company that you use should be very helpful and courteous and nothing should be a problem for them to do for your pet.Your pet should like them if your pet growls or hisses they are probably not for you.If you want Affordable friendly and professional service give me a call Kimberly from Kimberly’s pet taxi and Pet Services on 0428 568 852 we look forward to chatting with you about how we can help with your pets.

Tips for picking a pet sitter

Pets love our pet sitters

You’ve planned the trip. Everything’s set — except the arrangements for the pets staying behind. Hiring a Pet sitter to come to your home circumvents the travel trauma and interrupted routines that boarding can bring. But giving someone access to your personal space requires more than trust. Here are five tips to make choosing a pet sitter worry-free:

1. Hiring a pro. Pet sitters come in two varieties: independent individuals or companies that specialize in pet care. Local companies offer other advantages: Their Pet sitters often are trained for emergency situations and can provide services such as watering the plants and picking up the mail.Two things that offer more security than you get with an independent sitter.

2. Start searching early. You’re asking for trouble if you wait until the last minute to find a pet sitter. Put the word out early (anywhere from one to two months) and ask friends and co-workers for suggestions. Interview every candidate thoroughly, and do it at home. The Pet sitter should want to meet your pet right away and should ask detailed questions about habits, schedules and medical conditions.

3. Watch the sitter interact with your pet. Nonverbal cues — such as whether a sitter gets down on your animal’s level and interacts with it without hesitation — will give you a sense of the kind of care you’re contracting. A sitter should be at ease whether your pets are tiny Chihuahuas or huge Great Danes. Just as important is watching how your animal reacts. If Blackie growls or Fluffy raises its fur, you might want to find another Pet sitter.

4. Leave instructions. Although your verbal directions might seem straightforward, write everything down. You don’t want confusion about where you keep the food or extra kitty litter. Also write down all the walks or play times you expect, and ask that the sitter take notes detailing what happened during each visit. You’ll want to know if anything unusual occurred.

5. Make plans for a worst-case scenario. Even if your Pet sitter does everything right, things can go wrong. Be sure to leave your contact information, vet’s number and any pertinent medical information. Outline what you want the sitter to do if a trip to the vet is needed, and, as hard as it is to think about, decide what you want to happen if your pet needs surgery or to be put down. “The person must be prepared for and trained to handle any emergency that might arise,” Bowes said. “You’re entrusting them with your most precious possessions.”
